Your hair and self defense

Post by Dana Sheets »

Tony-san has made some great comments on how to use someone's hair against them with different grabbing and pulling techniques.

Many, many women have longer hair. And we wear it all different ways.

I think it'd be great to hear some ideas on how to get out of a hair grab - as well as ideas on how to use someone's hair to control them.

And nobody better suggest that I cut my hair!!! Image Image

Frontal hair grab = place both hands on top of their hand pushing the hand hard against the top of your head and fall forward breaking the wrist.

Candan.. that sounds like it would work! Gotta try that!

Dana: Check this out... On the Hagiki uke Hiraken Suki in the opening in Seichin. The first move, the wrist "rolls" under your elbow into a hiraken then "rolls" up again into a Hagiki Uke, then rips back into a chambered Hiraken Suki. now... try this... get a partner with long hair and reach out and grab a handfull of it, near the ends... then, pull it under your elbow, just like in the kata with the wrist cords pointing up (the hair should be on top of the wrist cords), then roll upwards into a hagiki uke. Notice how the hair *wraps* around the forearm. Now... rip it back... (keep the hair wrapped around your forearm, don't let it escape chase it if you have to) use your hip! Once you get that... apply the next move in the kata, the pivot and ko suko geri... so when you rip back, put MORE hip into it with your pivot and kick out the leg with an opposing ko suko geri. Once you get the idea.. practiing abreviating the technique so that you can trap and rip the hair very quickly without having to go through the motions of the kata.

It's pretty cooll.. check it out.

Hi Dana....I have a great technique for you...

If the person is wearing a pony tail....use the back of your hand to "slap" them on the side of the neck and see where their pony tail lands.....right in your hand!!

Great little handle you now have.....
