Adaptive Training

Post by Frank DiMeo »

Sensei Glasheen--
Thank you for the excellent forum!
I will be getting some insights from several Occupational & Physical Therapists and other Personal Trainers in my area as I put together a defense/strengthening program for people with disabilities (different abilities).
If anyone can recommend good resources or contacts to help enhance this program please let me know.
Thank you once again.
Respectfully,

Frank

One branch of my doctoral area (biomedical engineering) dealt with the specialized field of rehabilitative engineering. While I was never directly involved with these people, their work always fascinated me. For instance, I always enjoyed the work several were doing on the development of racing wheelchairs. Many BMEs seemed to be an athletic bunch, and they wanted to share that spirit with the challenged.

Let me see what I can dig up for you in the near future.

Thank you Sensei Glasheen for your timely response! I look forward to hearing more from you on this.
I was talking with a guy a few weeks ago who had been in a wheelchair
who emphasized that most people in his situation were ready for some good hard training. His attitude was great!
Thanks again for your help,
