A Detailed History Of IUKF
George Mattson
introduced Karate to much of the Western world in 1958, following his
army tour of duty on Okinawa, Japan. He has continued in the role of senior
Uechi-ryu instructor outside of Okinawa since that time and has been instrumental
in many facets of karate development during this time.
In 1974, Mattson created a not-for profit educational
organization, which acts as an umbrella group for the varied activities
that Mattson oversee. These activities include:
1. A yearly Martial Arts SummerFest and WinterFest.
2. A yearly Uechi-ryu Championship event
4. An International Website: "Eastern Arts On-line
Magazine"
5. An International Fraternal group for Uechi-ryu: :"International
Uechi-ryu Karate Federation"
2.1 Administration
The umbrella organization is the Eastern Arts and Humanities
Center, Inc., a not for profit educational organization.
