Hi, I just wanted to add my voice to those who said, make sure you get your shoulders checked out by a health care professional before doing anything to try to "self-rehab" through stretching or anything else. If you are dealing with an impingement or similar problem you may just end up do...

And that is saying something because I have been involved with sports, earning my living from them, ever since I was a teenager. But now I am training for the long run. I'm taking care of health first, improv...

I did my rounds this morning at 5:00am, *after* a 2 mile run! Now that is dedication! I'm more of a coffee guy in the morning and workouts in the evening. Although sometimes I go on a kick of morning workouts and I must admit that it is a great feeling throughout the day to know that you have alrea...

Hey Tony, The one I got is pretty much identical, but the guy at the warehouse talked me out of leather. He said for the price difference it wasn't worth it. I went with "vintex" (synthetic leather) and so far so good. I think if I ever upgrade I would go for leather just for the aesthetic...

Heavy Bag Training...

Hi Everyone, I was inspired by the pictures of the heavy bag in Tony's garage and decided to get myself set up with a bag at home. I train on my own most of the time so figured it was worth the investment. Now that I am all set up, I am wondering if those of you who train with a heavy bag could shar...

Teaching kids

For those of you that teach kids, I thought the following text may be of some interest. It has nothing to do with karate; in fact it is about alpine skiing. However, it provides an interesting teaser about the latest thoughts on developing young "athletes." What is the definition of an ath...

I think it is a sad statement about our society that beauty cannot be admired for beauty's sake without the admirer being labelled a pervert. We are so wound up tight that everything ends up being made into a "sex hunt". When I first read Bill's post the thought never crossed my mind that ...
