Yes, I am a shamless lurker, but I really haven't been around lately and did think I might have missed it. No prodding intended.
Sure sounds like it's going to be worth the wait. Looking forward to it. Thanks in advance.

Uechi Weights?
I haven't been around this forum for a while. Has "Strength Training for Uechi Ryu: Part II" come up? I didn't find it in the archives, but then I couldn't find Part I either. I must be doing something wrong there. I hope I'm not wasting space here. Anyway, I thought Part I was great. Thanks.

Concentration or Awareness
Chip Quimby,
The "Uechi glare" was originally presented to me as "look far away" in order to engage the largest possible periferal vision, like a camera set to infinity in order to take a wide landscape shot. (Not that I know anything about photography, that's just how glare was first described to ...

It's interesting that none of the "common sense" proponents are saying "I used to be hugely overweight but then I started eating right and exercising more and, presto, I became my buff self".
Oh well, I guess there won't be any new light shed on this topic here. Like I said on my original post on ...

I guess a lot of this thread probably belongs on the Seisan kata analysis threads. But in regards to some folks' objections to required drills...

I think Brat is right. There is a lot of mythology and simplistic thinking around this topic fueling the diet book and spa industries.
Things just aren't as simple as we might like. What happens when you eat less and exercise more? You lose weight. What happens next? You gain back more than you ...

This is a glib thread from what is usually a consistantly thoughtful and insightful forum.
It is true - Northa Americans have never been fatter, but that's not because overweight people are stupider or lazier than we buff martial artists. In fact, lots of obese people have looked at themselves in ...

Uechi Weights?
Thanks. I'm familiar with Milo magazine, and IronMind Enterprises, truly stand-out stuff in the field, but I will look up "Hard Training". My interest is in a particular Uechi approach to weight training. Certainly the movements we do are, in many cases, not too clearly related to the linear ...

Uechi Weights?
Sensei Glasheen,
I'm new to this forum - new to the net in fact. Your comments in the "Hunchback Syndrome" thread moved me to register.
My question: Are you preparing a program of "Uechi Weight" training for us? I'm real interested.
Thanks
