Iryna Zarutska, a 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee, was recently stabbed to death by Decarlos Brown Jr. It happened on the Lynx Blue Line train, in Charlotte, North Carolina. This brings up a major flaw on my primary form of defense--running away from violent people. In a train car, you're trapped inside with no room to escape. Also, bare hand defense is no match against edge weapons unless she's an expert--a skill few can master. Many teachers warned their students to flee from any aggressors holding a knife.

Uechi Sensei, had a smart defense against one foe who tried to chop him with a sword. He struck his assailant with a washing bowl.
