Definition of a Foul

Post by uechi45 »

Jay Sensei,

In your seminars you have been using the term "Foul" to describe a major infraction, but I can't find it in the rules anywhere. Am I blind or is it just not there? I'll see you on Sunday at Fred's.

Fouls.

Post by JaySal »

Hi Al:

I have copied and pasted the rule on Fouls.
I hope this can answer the question.

Note: Seminar At Fred's was canceled. I will be rescheduling.

Take care ...

18. WARNINGS, & FOULS: ·

Warnings: – A warning is just that, a warning to the competitor. If a competitor is issued three warnings, their opponent will be awarded one point.

·For each warning issued there after to the offending competitor. There opponent will be issued another point. Once an opponent is issued (five points) they win the match.

·Fouls: A foul is more severe then a warning.

·The competitor gets no chances with a foul, before they are penalized.

·If a competitor receives (three fouls ) in any one match, he/she will be disqualified.

·When the first foul is given to a competitor, a penalty point is awarded to their opponent. For every foul issued to the offending competitor, they’re after. Another point is awarded to their opponent. Any competitor that is issued, (three fouls) in any given fighting match is automatically disqualified.

Other Penalty Rules:

A competitor cannot be penalized with either a warning or a foul, and still receive a point on the same call. A competitor can receive a point for a proper technique and another point from a penalty. A warning or foul always over rules a point.

Other Cause for Penalization: A competitor can be issued either a (Warning or Foul) for doing anyone of the following rule infractions:

·Attacking illegal and non-target areas.
·Using illegal techniques.
·Running out of the ring to avoid fighting.
·Falling to the floor to avoid fighting.
·Continuing after being ordered to stop.
·Excessive stalling.
·Blind, negligent or reckless attacks.
·Uncontrolled techniques.
·Displaying unsportsmanlike behavior by the competitor, coaches, friends.
·Excessive contact.
·Delay of time.
·THIS IS NOT A TOTAL AND COMPEATE LIST.

Note:
Malicious technique or attack from one competitor to another, or from their coaches, teachers, friends. Is cause for immediate … DISQUALIFATION.

18.1 DISQUALIFICATION:
The head referee has the authority to disqualify a competitor on their own accord. We suggest that their be a majority vote by all officials. However, the head official can act alone and issue an automatic disqualification.

Non-Competing Penalty: If, in the majority opinion of the officials, it is considered that the competitors are not making an obvious attempt to fight in the true spirit of competition, both competitors will be warned and if it continues, will be disqualified.

Wrong Division: If any competitor deliberately competes in a division he/she does not qualify to compete in due to age, weight, rank, gender, style, etc., he/she will be disqualified. No majority of judges needed. This is at the sole discretion of the tournament coordinator and rules arbitrator.

Note: The Rules Arbitrator and / or Tournament Coordinator have the authority to disqualify any competitor on the spot.

Thank you...
