Training Methods

Beneficial or overrated? How can the TMA improve by exploring and being aware of other fighting methods?

Training Methods

Post by Kroh »

Hello All,
First I would like to start off by saying:

WHERE IS EVERYONE????

Now that that is out of the way, Down to it. Recently a friend of mine that has been away at school tried to grab some training time with some one from another JKD club. They noted some differences in the training methods that are employed by each of the different clubs. For example, one group (the one my friend and I come from) uses a group of pre-arranged techniques to illustrate how some of the handwork operates. The other guy had never seen these “sets,” and when he heard about them, thought they were a great way to illustrate how one movement can translate into another ( by the way….these are not mini-forms). The other guy showed my friend various drilling techniques that “supposedly” build speed and timing ( I wasn’t there and can’t confirm the validity of the drills).

Does anyone out there have any training methods that take your “Fighting Fu” to the next level that is not a part of standard Lee Jun Fan Gung Fu or Jeet Kune Do? If so…Please share. I am interested to see what other Branches of the JKD tree are doing to further their training.
