I find it difficult to compare the history of Iraq in the last quarter century to that of the Phillipines. Very different. No comparison.

George W and his speechwriters do need some history lessons though...

Saddam was a sonuvabitch. Nobody liked him except those corrupt individuals in the Sunni triangle and in Russia/France that lived off the misery of a multicultural nation.

Iran has its own sordid history. We were part of that ugly past with the Shah. I see nothing better coming from the Shiite takeover. Sorry to offend... But politics and religion don't mix.

Several wealthy countries with interests threw money and supplies at the whole region, and allowed millions (literally) to die by conventional and unconventional (germ and gas warfare) means. It got out of control; Saddam grabbed Kuwait. What a surprise!

There's an old saying - If you wrestle with a pig in the mud, you're going to smell like ****. We were there. We had our hands in it all. And so did the French, and Russians, and Germans.

Saddam is gone; I cry no tears for him. Most of Iraq is better off; those that aren't will spare no expense to cause more death and misery. It is their way. It will take decades to "deprogram" the violence and hate from this society. It is ugly. It will stay ugly for a long time.

George W used whatever justification he could to get rid of a thorn in the Middle East. You could argue that the end was just, but the means can't be justified. I might or might not bother to dispute you. But the end is most definitely better - period. I challenge anyone to tell me why I am wrong. I hate it that my nation was so presumptuous as to invade a sovereign nation, but the situation that existed before was even worse.

It ain't over yet... For the sake of everyone - especially the Iraqi people - I wish it were.

But what was done is done, and what should be done is to confront killers and power grabbers. The world must ****** it up and deal with this anarchistic cancer until it is gone.

The U.S. will be hated. Fine by me. Just respect us, and leave us alone. And don't worry - I don't expect to hear "Thanks!" from all those who will have a better life. I understand...

And I wish... I wish the Christian nuts on this side of the pond would take the time to see all that they hate about Islamic terrorists, Islam on Islam violence, and MidEast theocracies, and see the same violations of human dignity and self determination being proposed via their own aspirations. Living in a state with the likes of Falwell and Robertson though makes me reluctant to hold my breath on that one.
