Question on 1/23/05 tournament

Post by david »

Jay, Fred, Len,

Is the IUKF youth tourney for 1/23 strictly for Uechi Ryu stylists, or an open tournament for all stylists but with IUKF rules?

Thanks,

david

Dave:

Strickly speaking, the tournament is for Uechi / Shohei Ryu students. However, there may be divisions that are called "Demonstration" divisions that a competitor can enter and do any kata, two-person set, anything other then breaking. This is an optional division that the tournament promoter may or may not offer. Its best to contact the promoter and ask if the divisions are being offered. In this case, the promoter is Fred Channel. Its up to Fred whether or not he is offering the divisions.

I think that Raffi Derderian who is a Uechi & Kenpo instructor is having some of the kids from his Kenpo class compete in this demo division and do Kempo kata. Also some kids have done Ju-Jitsu techniques in past events in this demo division.

if I can answer any other questions. Please just ask.

Note: Dave please contact me off line if you have kids you would like to compete, so I have a clear understanding of there training. We are open to help and work with all instructors.

Take care - Jay
