My first computer
I purchased in 1982, was a CPM machine called a Kaypro portable!
http://oldcomputers.net/kayproii.html
Weighed in at 30+ pounds and was as big as a suitcase. Memory was a 64k floppy disk and software consisted of a word processing program, simple spreadsheet and a primitive database program (if my memory is correct).
To write a letter, you had to "write" the letter, then "format" the letter, which was quite a daunting task for a new user.
Cost? Only $2500!
Oh yes, before you could use the floppies for storage of data, you had to "format" them.
Look where technology has come in only 20 years!

There's a bit of Metablade in all of us.
